John Smith is a book by poet Steve Savage with a print run of 100 copies. Each copy features an original cover with one of a hundred unique signatures, while the spine of each features a different quote. On the back cover of each copy is one of a hundred cut-up portraits by Stéphane Poirier.

John Smith is the story of a name and the ideas and stories associated with that name. The entire text is based on search engine results. Produced with the support of Baillat Studio (design) and Stéphane Poirier (illustrations), the book was also adapted to a range of communications media: posters, animations, photos, music and a website—johnsmithis.com—with the aim of creating a comprehensive multimedia project.
